At Healthy Habits our goal is to help people develop the habits necessary to live healthier lives. Clients strengthen their foundational pilates core movements to assist in daily activities and progress at their own pace with individualized assistance. They feel encouraged to step on their mat wherever they are in their pilates journey and step off feeling better.
The personalization of a home pilates practice brings with it ease and flexibility to ensure you routinely return to your mat. Additionally, the mind body connection can be easier to access in the privacy of your home. This empowers you to choose the exercise variation that is best for your body each time you practice.
All you need is yourself, clothing you can comfortably move in, and a mat. Some things you already have in your home, for example a wall, can be utilized to increase the integrity of the exercises. Other small pieces of equipment like bands, balls, and blocks can add variety to your practice while fostering bodily awareness. Alternatives for any equipment will be reviewed.
I have been practicing mat pilates for over 20 years. Despite being someone who was scared to enter my college's gym, I was drawn to the convenience of a home practice and kept returning to the idea of being a pilates teacher. As a home fitness enthusiast whose meditational skills are lacking, pilates serves as my daily moving meditation while correcting muscular imbalances arising from scoliosis. My practice varies from restorative to more vigorous as I meet my body where it is each day. This allows me to perform optimally as a mother and optometrist while keeping with an eye towards healthy aging.

Laura is a certified health care educator who for years has been educating people that health is a result of our daily choices. Healthy Habits pilates is great for busy people who don't have time to get to a class but want to workout. We can meet you at home, work, or a local park, eliminating travel time as a deterrent to getting fit. Busy moms can schedule a session during nap time without altering your little ones routine. People who are more comfortable in their own environment
Healthy habits meets you where you are in your fitness journey. Our goal is to help people get healthier. Pilates is a great place to start since it teaches you how to stabilize and control your own body while another part is moving. It also addresses any imbalances that are present with different exercises complimenting each other. Appropriate exercise options will be presented for your current fitness level.
A duet is a semi-private session with 2 people of similar abilities. Working out with a friend or family member can be fun and motivating. Each person will move with the exercise variation that is appropriate for them. This is one way to reduce the cost of private sessions.
Each session is 50 minutes.
Health Habits has a 24 hour cancellation policy. Cancellation or no show within that 24 hour window is subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to that of your private session.
Packages expire 90 days from purchase date.
As a certified health care educator Laura teaches how to use diet and lifestyle to optimize health. She also teaches clients how to make evidence based medical decisions by helping them assess the benefits and risks of different treatment options.
